As I stated in my Happy New Year post – working on my 3rd album in the last 3 years in which I hope to have finished and released some time in late spring. It will be a 12 song album with some great songs (well, at least I think it will have great songs, hope you will to). I think you will find on this album a more polished and distinct sound that has developed over the past few years. I have started to think about the art work for the cover and a name for the album. I also have a bunch of idea’s for a few video’s that will co-inside with the release of the album. Started to work on the story boards for the video’s as the video’s are a lot harder for me to produce then the music itself. The visual’s have to be right and it’s difficult to get really the production I want as I have limited resources at my disposal.
So stay up to date with the progression of my new album. In the meantime – keep checking in and enjoy my release from last year.
It’s been a good year for me and my music. I have explored new genre’s and bought some new equipment to further my experimental voyages into the realm of music and sound. And frankly I don’t give a fuck if the music takes me into a world of what people think it should be as this is my outlet and one of my art forms that makes my life fulfilled.
It is so interesting from when I first started playing back in the 70’s to where I am today. Everything is at my fingertips and I don’t need to have other musicians to play all the parts. Although, nothing can replace that feeling of playing in a band with good musicians with you and being on stage, be it playing for a small audience or large audience it’s is still so exhilarating and fun.
I just recently obtained the Maschine Mirko MK3. What a cool piece of equipment! I immediately started playing around with it and produced a nice progressive uplifting instrumental. ( Take a listen – click on link below)

Working on my 3rd album in the last 2 years in which I hope to have finished some time in late spring. As said before, at my age and time in my life it’s all about the music in me and sharing with whom ever wants to listen. It’s always strange that as life moves on your priorities change as mortality faces you (not that i’m going to die hopefully anytime soon – LOL), but you don’t have that young man’s fancy of acquiring fame anymore, if it happens that’s a bonus now. You just want to leave a mark somewhere that you contributed to the progression of art, beauty and music. It’s like some old blue’s player that played back in the day and some where at some time some one heard a recording of a song or of him playing and said -wow that was fantastic and appreciated the talent.

In My Dreams is the #10 on the Eclectic Collaborations Album. The video In My Dreams is a bit autobiographical, written with my wife in mind. Certain lines like, “Now it’s just the two of us” is about our children that are now grown up with lives of their own and we only have each other. The chorus is my admiration for my wife and our love together, how I will be true and always love you. The dichotomy of the song is the guitar lead that I wanted Kimo to come up with in which it is similar to Chris Isaak’s, “Wicked Game” lead guitar riff, as I just loved that guitar riff. In My Dreams is a melodic love song with smooth flowing music ending with the subtle rumbling of neon waves.

On a business trip to Chicago a few years back, I had a riff that was sticking in my head from the start of my trip. I was only going to be in Chicago for about 4 days. I’ll tell you something about the windy city, there are plenty of cool blues and jazz clubs that you have to go to, to immerse yourself in the flavor of the city. I was privileged and able to go to just 2 in my 4 day stay. The first one is called B.L.U.E.S., in which is a small club with a tiny intimate stage that packs them in nightly to hear some real great players. Lot’s of local musicians play there as well as some up and coming newbies – don’t miss that club. Another club I was able to check out was Rosa’s Lounge in which , I thought was blues at it’s best. There is so many other clubs I would liked to have visited–but alas 4 days and on a business trip, I just could not do it, as they say it, “there’s always next time”. Well back to the riff in my head. As said, the whole trip and my club hopping brought me around to thinking how I can tie this riff into a song. So with the riff in my head, I wanted to get back home to my studio to see what I could work out. Wait a second – if I have a riff, what about some lyric’s? My trip to Chicago was coming to an end and I summoned up an Uber on my Iphone to take me back to the airport and home. The Uber picked me up and we proceeded to drive through town and onto the freeway towards Midway airport. Then I saw it – First one billboard than another ” Pink Monkey” it was a strip club – I fell in love!!!!! (not only with the strip club by the name Pink Monkey)
Now I got my inspiration mojo to start feverishly writing. I grabbed a pen and a piece of paper from my brief case and started to Pen the lyric’s – Ohh – The Pink Monkey – as I got to the plane it struck me from where my journey started and where I would end back to. New York to Chicago (and a layover in) Baltimore to get back to New York the words just flowed out as I sat in (BWI) Baltimore Airport waiting for my flight back to New York.
Nice organ parts with an upbeat tempo and very dance-able and just plan frigging fun. Listen to the words, as I call my baby, sweetheart, darling and the best line towards the end of the song, ” just like dripping honey!” – Let me know if you can, “Shake It!”

Knowledge is Power is one of my favorite songs on the album. The heavy guitar riff leading into the vocals just works so well. The lyrics are interesting as the main guitar riff lends itself to the key vocal line, “knowledge is power”. The full lyric verses were a little more difficult to come up with. I knew what I wanted to convey and say but I could not come up with the words to convey it. Thus, let’s go to google and put in the phrase, “Knowledge is Power”. So many different idea’s started to form around that phrase. The actual phrase was formulated by philosopher Francis Bacon during the time of Enlightenment. I was immersed in many different ways to convey “Knowledge is Power” but now I had to make the words fit into the song and for it to make sense (at least to me). After I got the first verse down and the phrasing to the music, it all clicked and fit in. One of my favorite lines in the song is, “Putting our knowledge we know, In the hands of machines”. The guitar lead comes after the 3rd verse, it follows the acoustic guitar and then comes in heavy and eclectic. Listen to the words as the meanings are profound.
